CONFIDENTIALITY OF STUDENT DATA
Petra Education Centre maintains a system of ensuring the confidentiality of Student Data. All Student data are accessible only to the Head of School, Ms Fauziah Shah. No other person working at PETRA, either part-time or full-time, has access to such data.

Teachers at Petra only have access to the students’ names that are found in the class register. If teachers need to communicate with the student’s parents, they will have to notify the school which will make arrangements for the teacher to contact them within the school premises.

All confidential information pertaining to students are kept in the student data base in the computer system which is only accessed by Ms Fauziah Shah. Some confidential information is also to be found in the Registration file which is kept by Ms Rita, the Office Administrator, and only accessible to herself and the Head of School, Ms Fauziah Shah.

We have a Student Update Form to get students to inform us of any changes in their data.

PETRA’S SECURITY DEPOSIT

Petra’s Security Deposit is calculated based on 10 % of the Course Fee of a student. So if the total course fee of a student is S$5,000.00, then the security deposit will be S$500.00.

Petra Education Centre will refund the security deposit in full to the student under the following circumstances:

  • PETRA cancels the course the student has enrolled for.
  • The Student Pass application of the student is unsuccessful.
  • The Student graduates from the specific programme.
  • The Student gives ample notice of withdrawal before the course commences (as stated in the Refund Policy).

In the event that the student leaves the school or discontinues with the course of study or gets a transfer to another school, the security deposit will be refunded in full, unless there are outstanding payments due to the school or if the student is expelled from the school.


SECURITY DEPOSIT (WITH ICA)

The security deposit will be forfeited if any of the conditions stated in the security bond is breached.
The school is required to inform ICA if:

  • The applicant has failed to attend classes for a continuous period of 7 days or more without any valid reason; or
  • The applicant has not attended class regularly i.e. where the percentage of the attendance is 90% or lower in any month (more than 3 days in a month) of the course without valid reason;
  • The applicant’s studies in the school has been terminated; or
  • The applicant who is undergoing quarantine has flouted the quarantine rules.
  • The student has floundered the immigration rules

STUDENT PASS APPLICATION
Student pass application fee is SGD$200. If the student knows someone in Singapore who can apply for the Student Pass on his or her behalf, then the Student Pass Application fee need not be paid to the school. The fee is only applicable if a student requires PETRA to apply for the Student Pass on the student's behalf.



STUDENT PASS EXTENSION

Two weeks before the expiry of the student pass, the student should inform the course consultant if an extension of the student pass is needed.

School fees must be paid in full before an extension of the student pass can be granted.

In order for the extension of the student pass to be approved, the student should have at least 90% of attendance. The Singapore Immigrations and Checkpoint Authority (ICA) reserves the right to cancel the Student Pass if a student is found to have absented from lessons on 7 consecutive days or if the attendance is below 90%.

STUDENT PASS CANCELLATION

Students who wish to cancel their student passes are required to obtain a “Cancellation of Student Pass” form from the school. This has to be given to ICA, together with the surrender of the Student Pass.

In addition, students are to fill up a “Leaving of School” form which can be got from the front desk.

ACCOMMODATION & AIRPORT PICK-UP

There is a wide variety of accommodation types in Singapore to suit different budgets and needs. Petra Education Centre does not provide accommodation, and students usually make prior accommodation arrangement before arrival in Singapore. You may refer to the link provided on the Homepage to look for suitable accomodation. If you still need assistance, we can help you by referring you to some hostels in Singapore or to homestay providers who can also act as guardians.

There will be a charge of S$50 for Airport Pick-Up. If interested, please contact the school at least a week before arrival.
