Target Group:
Anyone who has completed Petra Phonics with Conversational Skills at the Advanced Level or its Equivalent.
Students are expected to have a fairly good knowledge of how the language works, especially in speech situations.
Time:
Classes are held everyday; Mondays to Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm (active instruction time) and then from 2 pm to 4 pm (supervised study time) after a one hour lunch break.

Placement Test:
Placement tests will determine if the participant has achieved the necessary entry requirement. Petra’s evaluative tests for the alphabet and word recognition will be used as well as a test on spoken English.
Fees:
SGD$1,000.00 for each module of 1 month (4 weeks). Total number of modules for this course = 6.

Course Objectives:
Students will:
- practise speaking in a wide variety of contexts;
- learn basic English grammar;
- learn how to use the simple present tense in sentences and in paragraphs;
- learn how to use the present continuous tense in speaking and writing tasks;
- learn the difference between nouns and verbs;
- learn about the different kinds of nouns;
- learn how to comprehend the language in simple texts;
- have plenty of practice in answering simple comprehension questions;
- become more confident in using correctly formed English expressions to meet basic survival needs
Methodology:
The teachers will encourage you to learn English by using it. Many class activities will be carried out to enable students to be active learners in and out of the classroom.
Course Assessment:
The teacher will monitor the students and observe their progress all the time. The teacher provides feedback to the Project Coordinator after every lesson. At the end of each term (4 weeks), this information will be summarised and given to the parents in the form of a written report.
