Target Group:
Anyone who has completed Intensive English for Academic Purposes at the Intermediate Level or its Equivalent; Participant must have reached at least a Lower Secondary level of proficiency in English.
Time:
Classes are held everyday; Mondays to Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm (active instruction time) and then from 2 pm to 4 pm (supervised study time) after a one hour lunch break.

Placement Test:
A placement test will determine if the participant has attained the required entry level. The relevant Probe Evaluative Test and Secondary 2 level test papers will be used.
Fees:
SGD$1,200.00 for each module of 1 month (4 weeks). Total number of modules for this course = 3.

Course Objectives:
Students will:

be given ample practice in developing good listening skills and to understand a wide variety of spoken texts;

be able to express ideas correctly and confidently;

learn how to write summaries effectively;

be given more opportunities to develop grammar and vocabulary further;

be able to write using a variety of genres;

become competent in answering higher level comprehension questions;

be given opportunities to present in front of the class to develop effective presentation skills
Methodology:
The teachers will encourage students to learn English by using it. Many class activities will be carried out to enable students to be active learners in and out of the classroom. All aspects of the language necessary for an Upper Secondary school student will be covered both separately and then as a whole. Students will be shown how the different aspects of the language learnt can be used to write a better composition.
Course Assessment:
The teacher will monitor the students and observe their progress all the time. The teacher provides feedback to the Project Coordinator after every lesson. At the end of each term (4 weeks), this information will be summarised and given to the parents in the form of a written report.
